Bunny Breeds

Are you considering getting a rabbit for your Aurora home? Rabbits can make great pets. They can be very sweet and friendly, and are super cute to watch. Bunnies can also be litter trained, and allowed to roam freely throughout the house, though you will need to be sure to make your home bunny proof. There are over 48 breeds of bunnies to choose from, and they are all absolutely adorable.

Here are a few of smaller breeds:

Netherland Dwarf

These charming little furballs weigh only 1 to 2.5 pounds on average. The breed comes in many different colors, and has shorter ears than many rabbit breeds. Their fur tends to be quite soft and shiny as well.

Mini Plush Lop

These bunnies are almost unbearably cute. They have droopy ears, and are generally quite affectionate and love to cuddle.

Lionhead

The Lionhead rabbit is quite the little furball! These bunnies have long, fluffy hair, and can have either loppy ears or upright ears. They have little manes of fur around their cute little faces as well.

Jersey Wooly

The Jersey Wooly will generally weigh about 3 pounds, and are generally very friendly and playful. Their soft, wool fur does require regular grooming, so these bunnies do need to be brushed.

American Fuzzy Lop

The American Fuzzy Lop will weigh under 4 pounds. These endearing little ones are typically quite sociable and enjoy attention. They do love to play, and will enjoy toys, as well as social time with their human family.

Holland Lop

Holland Lops typically weigh less than 4 pounds. These popular bunnies typically have very sweet personalities, are extremely adorable, and make great pets. They are available in several different colors, and have super soft fur.

English Angora

The English Angora rabbit is super fluffy. These fuzzballs have a quite cute and almost comical appearance. That thick, long fur does require daily grooming so your bunny doesn’t end up accidentally ingesting it, as they are prone to woolblock, which can be fatal.

Polish Rabbit

Known as the “Little Aristocrat”, the Polish rabbit will usually weigh under 3 ½ pounds. They have a compact body, and can come in several different fur colors. Polish bunnies can be quite friendly, and make great pets. These smart, gentle rabbits enjoy being petted, and are quite trainable.

No matter what bunny breed you choose, the basic care for your Aurora rabbit will be the same; your bunny will need a good, roomy cage, things to chew on, clean water, a litter box, fresh food, and lots of love and attention.
