Holiday Gifts for Dogs

Happy Holidays! Have you finished your shopping yet? Or are you a last-minute shopper? No matter which camp you fall into, don’t forget to pick up something for your dog. Fido is a wonderful pet and companion, and really deserves a special gift or two! Read on for some great doggy gift suggestions from a local Aurora, CO vet.

Toys

Making sure your canine buddy has plenty of suitable playthings is very important! If you have a puppy, put lots of chew toys in your pet’s stocking. Fido may also enjoy puzzle toys or rope toys. If you really want to get that tail going, offer your pooch a mechanical ball launcher or an automated laser pointer.

Bed

Fido is super cute when he’s curled up in his doggy bed, sleeping peacefully. A new bed would be a great gift for your four-legged friend! If you have a senior dog or a large breed, consider getting an orthopedic bed, as they offer extra support.

Doggy Dishes

Dogs often find it much easier to eat from raised dishes than bowls on the floor. Consider giving your furry buddy’s dinnerware a pupgrade!

Treats!

If there’s one thing that is bound to make your canine pal’s day, it’s snacks. Fido can definitely enjoy some of his favorite store-bought goodies. You can also give your pet some plain, cooked meat, chicken, or fish; shredded deli meat; or a roll of gourmet dog food. Of course, if you like cooking, you can also make your furry friend’s snacks. Just be sure to choose only safe, suitable ingredients.

Pet Ramps

If you have a small dog or a senior pooch, consider getting your furry bff some pet ramps. These will help your four-legged pal get around more easily.

Clothes

If your pet has thin fur, he may get cold easily in winter. Doggy clothes can make a great gift! Just make sure that your canine friend’s wardrobe fits well, and is not hot, tight, itchy, or constricting. Avoid materials that need to be dry-cleaned, unless you don’t mind dropping your doggy laundry off and picking it up. You’ll also want to stay away from anything with small parts, like buttons, that Fido may try to eat.
